Creativity start with an idea

I'm a software engineer in my professional life and my hobby was making websites when the internet started to become common in the nineties. Macromedia Flash was an animation software tool that was used a lot in that time to animate websites. I became more and more interested and started to make little animations with Flash not knowing yet that I would make a real animated music jukebox with this software. But music was my first love in that time, second was playing with Flash and animations.

About my Wurlitzer MediaPlayer

In the time that Macromedia Flash was booming, I had an idea to make a jukebox in which I could play my music. I made a simple version that could play an mp3 file with a single that could turn around, like a real recordplayer. Then one day I came upon the real Wurlitzer 1015 One More Time and I was sold. Not to buy a real jukebox, but the design and the way it made listening to music a real experience made me think of building a jukebox that would be like the real Wurlitzer 1015. I made a CD version, that was the most sold Wurlitzer jukebox in that time.

Building an animated jukebox

So that was my idea, only I had to learn (Macromedia) Flash first, learn actionscript, and also how to make a simple animation and to be able to listen music inside my application. Animating a CD-caroussel or the light-tubes and the coins-op even didn't came upon my mind in that time. So I started building and animating every piece of the Wurlitzer jukebox and that took me four years before I was satisfied. In that time streaming music started and also Youtube became more and more popular. My main goal was listening to my own MP3/MP4 collection and that is still what it is. Integration with Spotify wasn't possible, although I gave it a try, a desktop application like this mediaplayer can't connect with the Spotify API. So I had to stop with this new version. Anyhow, as far as I know the Wurlitzer MediaPlayer is the one and only animated jukebox on the internet that works like the Wurlitzer 1015 One More Time.

Does the Wurlitzer MediaPlayer really work like the Wurlitzer 1015 One More Time?

Well, an animated jukebox isn't the same like the real Wurlitzer, but when I listen to my own music on my desktop, I have the feeling I listen to a real jukebox. Find out for yourself, and give it a try. My Wurlitzer MediaPlayer can be played on a Windows desktop, you only need to install Adobe AIR Runtime first, and then you can install the jukebox. I hope you enjoy it and feel free to send me some feedback. If you have any questions about the Wurlitzer MediaPlayer, you can contact me by mail.

How can I start listening to my own music?

First go to my Downloads page and download and install my software. You can play your MP3/MP4 files in the jukebox, take a look a the Videos page to understand how you can add your music files and how the mediaplayer works. You can use the mediaplayer on Windows 7, 8, 10 and 11. After 30 days you can buy a license if you like to keep listening to your music. If you have a Spotify account, you can download your music very easy with Musify and play it in the jukebox in MP3 format.
